Mary Ann Morris
Move beyond the pressure.
Trust the connection.
Open to a deeper understanding of your child.
For parents of autistic non-speaking children and those with selective speech, ready to move beyond fear and second-guessing, become confident, present communication partners, and build the deeper relationship you've both been longing for. One that goes beyond words.
Who I am
My son Luke is seventeen. He communicates through a letter board, and he has more to say than most people in any room he enters.
I did not come to this work through a training program. I came to it because I had a child everyone else described in terms of what was missing, and I could feel that nothing was missing at all. What was missing was a route out, and the confidence, on my side, to trust what was already coming through.
That took years. It does not have to take you years.
I work with parents of non-speaking, minimally speaking, and uniquely communicating autistic children, teenagers, and young adults. Not to fix anyone. To help you read the child who has been speaking to you the whole time.
Mary Ann
I've known Mary Ann since 2019 and am amazed at how rapidly she expanded to remember who she is while maintaining a family which includes a beyond verbal autist. Her rapid integration of her soul mastery is remarkable whilst she juggles family and her services. I've seen many rapidly awaken but not all can do it with such humility, integrity, and coherence. She is truly a remarkable practitioner, and her beautiful energetic process has been so helpful to both my beyond verbal daughter and myself.Susan
The method
Five stages that begin, unexpectedly, with you. This is what the work actually looks like.
First stage
Feel before you fix.
Before you try to change anything about your child, the communication, or how you feel about either, you stop and notice what is actually happening inside you. Fear. Grief. Urgency. Guilt. The expectations you didn't know you carried into the room. Naming them is not indulgent. It is the only way to keep them from running the interaction for you.
Second stage
Release what is getting in the way.
What am I making this mean? What am I afraid will happen? Am I trying to get my child to perform, respond, spell, or connect in the way I need right now? You work with the charge instead of carrying it in unconsciously. Release the pressure. Release the agenda. Make room.
Third stage
Come back to yourself, your heart, and God.
This is the centre of the whole thing. Breath. Body. Stillness. Prayer. Instead of trying harder to reach your child, you become present enough to meet them. Your child reads your state long before they read your words, and they have been doing it their whole life. You are not the problem here. You are the instrument.
Fourth stage
Listen differently.
Observe. Become curious. Notice your child's communication without immediately interpreting it. Speech, gesture, movement, AAC, spelling, facial expression, sensory cues, behaviour, silence, and for families who experience it that way, intuitive impressions, held with discernment rather than assumed to be always accurate. Your child may communicate differently. You can learn to perceive differently.
Fifth stage
Let the relationship change both of you.
Now you stop doing the method and start living it. Trust yourself more. Trust your child's individuality. Practise Presence again, and again, and repair when you lose it. And begin recognising that this relationship is not only about what you are teaching your child. Your child may be teaching you too.
Fear and pressure, into feeling. Feeling, into release. Release, into Presence. Presence, into receiving. And receiving, into relationship.

I came across this wonderful interview with Mary Ann Morris, sharing her inspirational journey of assisting her autistic son reaching his potential, a journey that also became an intrinsic part of her own spiritual initiation. Highly recommend!
I had been praying and searching for an answer to help my daughter’s situation… The day after Mary Ann’s first session, my daughter reached out to me. We had not communicated in months due to our differences. My daughter’s emotional anger was not present when we spoke. Her outlook has changed.
From the moment I showed up, I felt a genuine warmth and compassion that immediately put me at ease… Once the session was over, I experienced a profound shift. I felt lighter, with a deep sense of relaxation and peace that I hadn’t experienced in years.
Seven questions · about ninety seconds
Most parents arrive with a private list of moments they have never said out loud. The answer that came too fast. The thing your child could not have known. The day the room changed before anyone spoke.
There are no wrong answers here, and nothing you say gets scored against you.
Your pattern
If any of that landed, the next step is a short conversation. Fifteen minutes, no pitch, and no expectation that you have it figured out.
Book a consult→The practice
This is what I teach parents to do before they go to their child. Not during, and not instead.
A regulated nervous system in the room is not a nice extra. It is the condition that makes everything else possible. Your child reads your state long before they read your words, and they have been doing it their whole life.
No account. No email. Do it in a parked car if that is the only quiet you get.

Working together
Fifteen minutes, just the two of us. You tell me what is happening with your child and what you have already tried. I tell you honestly whether I am the right person for it. No pitch, and no expectation that you arrive with it figured out.
Eight weeks of live guidance with me, in a founding group of no more than twelve parents. Weekly teaching and coaching, an optional Practice Room, and a private group. Starts mid-September.

Direct work with me on your child's particular way of communicating and on your own regulation. For parents who want to move quickly, or whose situation does not fit a group format.
I feel fabulous and radically transformed. You need to teach this to others.Nate P. · Autist extraordinaire · Wisconsin
Where to start
Not a program, not a package. Fifteen minutes to tell someone what you have been noticing, and to hear from someone who is not surprised by any of it.
